Tomorrow is Election Day, and today Big Stir Records and NPFO STRATAGEM (an international supergroup spearheaded by STEVEN WILSON of PLASTICSOUL and PETER WATTS of SPYGENIUS) mark the occasion by doing something that more people (like, everyone, really) should be doing: unequivocally denouncing White Supremacists. “Back Off Boogaloo”, a cover of RINGO STARR's 1971 single aimed squarely at the Boogaloo Bois, Proud Boys, neo-Nazis and domestic terrorists everywhere, is out at bigstirrecords.bandcamp.com/music now. It's backed by a surprising cover of a DEAD KENNEDYS classic with an even more direct message for “Nazi Punks” (hint: it isn't radio-safe and it definitely isn't “stand back and stand by”).
NPFO STRATAGEM has been assembled for the occasion by Mr. Wilson, Mr. Watts, and the merry Spygenius crew in a show of international musical solidarity against the rising tide of emboldened hate groups in the US at a pivotal moment in history. The ad-hoc group includes Wilson, the full SPYGENIUS lineup, and remote contributions from LA all-arounder FERNANDO PERDOMO), Christina and Rex from THE ARMOIRES, Fresno's own BLAKE JONES, and DAVE and WENDY GALLUZZO. In the waning hours of the 2020 campaign, with increasing signs of voter intimidation and goons taking to the streets, you can consider this our closing argument: America, get yourself together now.
Vote, if you haven't already.
