It's a very special release in the BIG STIR SINGLES SERIES as LA pop legend NELSON BRAGG (Brian Wilson Band, The Mockers, Anny Celsi and many many more) presents a limited edition vinyl 45 featuring a cover of Elton John's “I Want Love”, backed with his own composition “Lost All Our Sundays”. Each copy is signed by Nelson himself and the physical 7” is up for order at
bigstirrecords.bandcamp.com/music now, with the digital release to follow on all platforms on May 21 as the 130th installment in our celebrated Singles Series!
The vinyl 45 is now available and begins shipping on Bandcamp Friday, May 7, while the full digital release follows on May 21. The digital tracks come with the vinyl purchase, and will be available to download on the release date, at which time they'll also be streaming everywhere. They can also be pre-ordered now on their own as part of the Big Stir Singles Series.
The “I Want Love” 45 is Nelson's first new solo release since his second LP We Get What We Want in 2012, and it's a taste of things to come: it's to be included on his third album Gratitude Blues, which Nelson's wrapping up with an all-star recording cast and is to be released later this year. “I Want Love”, written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin, recorded by Elton John, and included in his biopic Rocketman, was a song that spoke personally to Nelson and inspired this standalone release. Produced, like the upcoming record, by LA studio wizard STEVE REFLING with Bragg, it's a beautiful and highly personal rendering of a lovely song and a look at what's been inspiring Nelson creatively during the troubled times of the pandemic.
The B-side “Lost All Our Sundays” is a treasure from the vaults of Nelson's STEEL DERRICK MUSIC empire. Recorded with LA scene veterans PHIL ROSENTHAL (Twenty Cent Crush), STEVE BERNS and JEFF LEGORE (of Maple Mars) and produced by Berns, it's exclusive to this new release and a wonderful complement to the brand new A-side as well as a prime example of Bragg's own songwriting prowess.
Stand by for more news from Steel Derrick Music and Big Stir Records as NELSON BRAGG returns with the full GRATITUDE BLUES album later this year!
