By popular demand and on the heels of a radio debut on Rodney Bingenheimer's show on Little Steven's Underground Garage (SiriusXM), Big Stir Records announces the July 8 release of “I'm Tired”, the second single from LA postpunk quartet WALKER BRIGADE's new and critically acclaimed album IF ONLY. The digital singe is available for pre-order now at bigstirrecords.bandcamp.com and will be streaming everywhere on the release date. It's a delightfully punked-up cover of the Mel Brooks-penned tune originally sung by Madeline Kahn in Blazing Saddles.

The single is accompanied by a striking video, shot on location at California's Salton Sea. Against the surreal, arid landscape, the band members – guitarist/vocalists Tracy Walker and Jeff Charreaux, drummer Craig Tyrka, and and bassist Mark Fletcher – serve as extras while the song is lip-synched with glorious aplomb by drag performer Abhora. Originally shot in 2019 for the track's inclusion as a B-side on the band's Big Stir Records single “Tower”, the clip and the tune now receive the A-side treatment that's been made all but inevitable based on radio reception and reviews.

WALKER BRIGADE's unique version of “I'm Tired” is modeled in part on the iconic Sid Vicious performance of Sinatra's “My Way”, according to guitarist Jeff Charreaux. There's no mistaking Tracy Walker's impassioned vocal for Sid, but the combination of punk rock energy and tongue-in-cheek humor may be why the cover caught the attention of Rodney Bingenheimer as an album track. WALKER BRIGADE's unique taste in covers – IF ONLY also features tunes originally performed by Wire, The Soft Boys and The Only Ones – helps define the band's singular place in the pop-rock cosmos. But they're only a gateway to the compelling magic of the original songs on IF ONLY, which has been hailed as “a persuasive rebuttal to those who would pronounce the rock era done and dusted -- breathlessly recommended!” by Bill Kopp of MUSOSCRIBE, and led the UK's DANCNG ABOUT ARCHITECTURE to proclaim "Walker Brigade could be the best band in the world.
