Celebrate the holidays with LIBRARIANS WITH HICKEYS’ surprise new single, “Jingle Jangle Heart” b/w “Listen, The Snow Is Falling”! It's out December 3 everywhere from Big Stir Records and up for pre-order at
bigstirrecords.bandcamp.com now.
After last year's fun holiday cover of “Christmas In Suburbia” (Martin Newell / Cleaners From Venus) from Big Stir Singles: The Yuletide Wave (available worldwide on all platforms), the band went back into their workshop and hand-crafted an original tale called “Jingle Jangle Heart.” Our protagonist demonstrates the spirit of the season by helping his girlfriend put up her tree and then shovels her walk for her so she can sleep in on Christmas morning -- but not too late, lest she miss the b-side to the single!
The flip side is a cover of Yoko Ono’s excellent “Listen, The Snow Is Falling” which was the B-side of John And Yoko’s “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” single (for those of you keeping score at home). This version is based on a demo that singing Librarian Ray Carmen made in the early 2000’s, and comes complete with a keyboard part played on an old 1985 Casio SK-1 toy sampler. Ray recorded new vocals, and producer Mike Crooker gave it an new mix and EQ wax so it shines like new. He also added sleigh bells and a gong. Get it on!
The cover art is a photograph Mike took of the ornaments on his family's year-round Christmas tree (but that's another story for another Hallmark and/or Lifetime movie).
So, put on this fab new single, roll back the rug and do the watusi (or the swim, or the washing machine, or whatever dance it is you crazy kids like to do when you’ve had a couple “special” eggnog drinks), and don’t forget to test the mistletoe!
And... happy Holidays from Librarians With Hickeys! Ray Carmen (lead vocals / guitar), Mike Crooker (guitar / backing vocals), Drew Wilco (bass guitar) and Rob Crossley (drums).
