Just in time, it’s “This Halloween”! The brand new exclusive standalone single from DOLPH CHANEY is tailor-costumed for the spooky season, and it's out right now at
bigstirrecords.bandcamp.com as well as streaming everywhere for your trick-or-treating soundtrack needs.
Dolph Chaney is back, costumed in some vintage new-wave threads and rocking sweetly enough to belong in Charlie Brown’s bag! Written in 1996 for the ultra-limited HUMBUG GLORY project that was also the first home of standouts “Make Me A Baby” (refined on 1998’s NEW BIRD RISE) and “Scales” (now a dramatic highlight of this year’s acclaimed THIS IS DOLPH CHANEY), “This Halloween” sports a new verse of lyrics and a sugar-laden wiggle in its step.
This masquerade was aided and abetted by Nick Bertling, continuing the partnership that has defined Chaney’s work all year, and previewing their work in progress for his next album, planned for fall 2022. This time out, says Dolph, “we aimed to simulate the Elvis Costello / Attractions / Squeeze axis circa 1980-82. I took the challenge of hitting both the nearest to a Glenn Tilbrook guitar solo and as close to Steve Nieve on the Casio organ as these muddy mitts can muster!” If this has you tempted, you can trust that the result is a fantastic throwback to when our hero was skinny and his tie was even skinnier.
Such a sweet treat should whet the appetite of discerning listeners, and the next course is Dolph’s November 2021 tour, kicking off Nov 6 at the Montrose Saloon in his home Chicago, then it's out west to California and Arizona for a blitzkrieg week to give fans of wit and melody much to be thankful for.
