Big Stir Records and our partners at the beloved Texas power pop imprint SPYDERPOP RECORDS are thrilled to present a Double A-Side single (out Friday everywhere and up for pre-order at bigstirrecords.bandcamp.com now) previewing a very special SpyderPop compilation, WE ALL SHINE ON: CELEBRATING THE MUSIC OF 1970, set to be announced this weekend for a late August release. The all-new compilation features the guitar-pop heroes of today performing the hits of a watershed year, and the single brings you two highlights: Texas duo PETSCHE/RAINES with a soulful version of “Are You Ready?” by Pacific Gas & Electric, and THE TEST PRESSINGS with a revved-up take on Edison Lighthouse's “Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)”. They're just two of the twenty-two fresh takes on the classics to be found on WE ALL SHINE ON, and make the collection one of the year's best and most exciting!

Our first A-Side – and the lead track on the full album -- kicks things off with a glorious pop/soul rave up (with distinct gospel overtones) by the dynamic duo of PETSCHE/RAINES. Alan Petsche and Delbert Raines have plied their trade as members of the legendary Texas power pop combo The Pengwins and here they transform a tune originally waxed by one-hit wonders Pacific Gas & Electric into something quite memorable. It's a powerful rallying cry for what's to come, with backing vocals from The Baker Brothers Gospel Choir adding to the energy and making spirits soar.

The other A-Side comes from power pop supergroup THE TEST PRESSINGS, featuring pop (and Hollywood) legend ROBBIE RIST (guitar/vocals), KAREN BASSET of The Pandoras (among others) on bass and backing vocals, and drums from compilation producer JOHN M. BORACK of Popdudes and The Armoires (both of whom also appear on WE ALL SHINE ON). The power trio takes on – and amps up! – the Top 10 Edison Lighthouse hit “Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)”, hot on the heels of the tune's surprise revival via TikTok earlier this year. This new version is ample proof that love is still growing for the song, and the TEST PRESSINGS version will sound great on the summer airwaves.

The single's just a taste of what awaits on WE ALL SHINE ON, as the likes of LANNIE FLOWERS, THE BROTHERS STEVE, CHRIS PRICE, BILL LLOYD and many more revisit the magic of the 1970 charts. Stand by for an official announcement of the collection on CD and streaming worldwide in the coming weeks!
