To accompany the August 20 relaunch of DANNY WILKERSON's solo debut album WILKERSON on vinyl, CD and all digital platforms, BIG STIR RECORDS and SPYDERPOP RECORDS announce the release of a new single featuring two of the album's most engaging tracks. “You Still Owe Me A Kiss”, with the B-side “Enough For Somebody,” is up for preorder now at
bigstirrecords.bandcamp.com and will be streaming everywhere on the album's release date. They're expected to follow in the footsteps of the record's lead single “Let It Go Tonight” in garnering airplay on terrestrial airwaves and online radio outlets worldwide, winning new ears for DANNY WILKERSON and this critically-acclaimed album.
Produced, like all of WILKERSON, by LA studio wizard and hitmaker BLEU, “You Still Owe Me A Kiss” is the textbook definition of a should-be hit, with a warm and lush arrangement wrapped around a melody that grabs the listener instantly and doesn't let go, while DANNY's voice delivers the emotional punch perfectly here. The word “soaring” applies equally to the lead vocal and the song itself, an intoxicating concoction of sweet slide guitar, ascending piano lines, immaculate backing vocals, and a Beatles-like horn break. Even on an album that was hailed as a stack of radio-ready singles upon its original release – WILKERSON was named the Best Album of 2018 by John Borack of Goldmine Magazine – “You Still Owe Me A Kiss” is a surefire Top Ten pick. (Yes, there are ten tracks on the record, but that just proves the point, doesn't it?)
The flip side, “Enough For Somebody”, is a whole different kind of juke box treasure. This time the horns positively dominate and the vibe is absolutely euphoric... it might've been the tune that got the crowd on the dancefloor in a past decade, and it might still do so now with its irresistible beat and classic chorus. As on every song from WILKERSON, DANNY's vocal is the star, and here it's positively soulful and in a mood to celebrate love. The groovy organ and call-and-response backing vocals complete the package, and yes, there's a breakdown that'll make you clap your hands along with the record.
The two tunes together still only hint at the full, rich textures of the album – it's got to be experienced in full, preferably in its gorgeously designed vinyl edition. But there's no doubt they're going to sound great on the radio, so turn them up when you hear them, and get your turntable warmed up for WILKERSON on August 20.
